         Forgiveness

words and music by Mark Ruttle

Words and music written in response to the composer's realization that forgiveness is a two way street. We all should be prepared to forgive, and to be forgiven.

Into my blind broken heart forgiveness rushed in, and grace freed my soul from fear's shameful sin.

Such wondrous love, brings me back to your peace and rest, fulfills my dreams, purifies my heart.

Tender forgiveness that cleanses, caresses my heart, so full of pride and selfish desire.

Before your love, so contrite and humble I stand, empty I come, accept my plea.

Before my wand'ring, your love awaits my return, forgave me my sin before it was known.

When my will failed, your loving grace prevailed, a grace so great, exceeding my need.

Restore my soul, renew my weary heart, as whole in your eyes, compassion has won.

Soothing my soul, your warm and tender embrace, gently sweet grace, calms my storm.

When free from doubt my heart with song cried out, but how could a song such love reveal?

Measurelessgrace, the depth and length I treasure, lov'd me, forgave me, united again.
